Creighton Swimming Pool

ATTENTION:

In 1994 the voters of the City of Creighton approved a 1% city sales tax with 40% of this tax to be used for the construction, maintenance and support of the Municipal Swimming Pool. The existing pool was built in the late 1950's.

The first phase of the pool renovation project was completed in 1996 when a new filter system was installed. In the fall of 2001, the City began a complete renovation project on the pool. This renovation included a new wading pool and bathhouse, replacing the walls of the pool, a new gutter system, deck, fencing and lights. Christiansen Construction Co. was able to complete the project in May of 2002 and the renovated pool opened on June 1, 2002. This project has been completely financed with city sales tax money.

Creighton Area Ruritan had several fund raisers and were able to purchase a slide for the pool. This slide was installed the middle of June and has been a great addition to the pool. Many Creighton residents have enjoyed the new pool and, attendance records show that many "out-of-town visitors" have also utilized the renovated facility.

It hosts a unique collection of trees and shrubs, an outdoor classroom, and serves as an informal laboratory to test the adaptability of plants to northeast Nebraska.

Bruce Park Arboretum was started in 1992 and is an affiliate site of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. The community, through its Tree Board, has achieved Tree City USA status each year and received other awards many times.
